Strong earthquake hits off Vanuatu

A Strong earthquake measuring 6. 4 on the Richter scale hit Vanuatu at 10:13 p.m. (0213 GMT) Thursday, according to a bulletin released by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The epicenter was initially determined to be 13.6 degrees south latitude and 167.1 degrees east longitude, about 480 km north- northwest Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damages.

Vanuatu is an island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean.
