Pakistan Thursday confirmed the killing of four its citizens in Kandahar shooting in Afghanistan.

While confirming the killing of the four Pakistanis in Afghanistan, Pakistan's Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit shared sympathies with the aggrieved families in Pakistan, saying that the concerned families were informed.

However, the spokesman declined to go to further details as how they were killed and who could be behind the incident.

Earlier, reports from Afghanistan suggested that some unknown armed men opened fire and killed five Pakistani nationals in Taliban birthplace Kandahar in south Afghanistan on Thursday.

"The victims working for a road construction company in Panjwai district came under attack this morning when they were going from Kandahar to the construction site in Panjwai," Hajji Shah Baran, the district chief of Panjwai, told Xinhua.

Officials have not pointed finger to any particular groups or individuals.

On Friday, multiple attacks in central Kabul for which Taliban claimed responsibility claimed the lives of 17 people including nine Indian nationals.
