All Koreans should get united under the uplifted banner of national independence to reunify the divided country at an early date and open up the road for its eternal prosperity, the Rodong Sinmun of Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Monday.

Rodong Sinmun said in a leading article that all Koreans should "throw into the dustbin of history the South Korean conservative group's traitorous policy of confrontation and nonsensical theory of confrontation in system" and open up the broad avenue for national reconciliation and cooperation.

It said the DPRK should advance the cause of peaceful reunification along the road indicated by the inter-Korean joint declarations and all Koreans should unite under the banner of "by our nation itself" irrespective of differences in ideology, political view and religious belief and accelerate the movement for national reunification with that might.

The leading article was issued on the day to commemorate the 91st anniversary of the March 1 Popular Uprising in Korea. Korean people launched a movement to revolt against the Japanese colonial rule on March 1, 1919.
