It is still not necessary yet to impose any special law ahead of a mass anti-government rally planned in mid-March, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of security affairs Suthep Thaugsuban said Thursday.

Jatuporn Promphan, core leader of the anti-government United front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) confirmed on Thursday of the planned-mass rally, the National News Bureau of Thailand (NNT) under the state-owned Public Relations Department reported.

The anti-government movement by the UDD, or red-shirted people, will start from March 12 as the red-shirted supporters from the countryside will begin from March 12 to travel to Thailand's capital Bangkok.

And, in the morning on March 14, the UDD protestors will stage their massive rally at Sanam Luang, the open field and public square in the center of Bangkok.

Imposing any special law by this time will be depended on the red-shirted movement, Thai News Agency quoted Suthep as saying.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul conceded he is worried about the mass anti-government rally since a number of the UDD protestors are expected to gather in Bangkok.

Hence, provincial governors have been instructed to closely monitor the red-shirted movement and explain the real situation to the local general public, he said.

The red-shirted political demands include resignation of the coalition government or the House dissolution, paving the way for a new general election.
