Nepali Narcotic Drugs Control Law Enforcement Unit (NDCLEU) said it has busted an international hashish racket in the capital Kathmandu, The Kathmandu Post reported on Tuesday.

Anti-Narcotic Aviation Squad of the NDCLEU arrested two drug traffickers Hem Bahadur Gurung and Raju Gurung from Tribhuvan International Airport recently when they were attempting to board a Bangkok-bound Nepal Airlines Corporation's flight.

The alleged kingpin of the racket, Suk Bahadur Gurung, was later nabbed on the duo's information. All of them are residents of Tanahun district in western Nepal.

NDCLEU said on Monday that Hem Bahadur had swallowed 143 capsules of the contraband drug (over 1 kg), and Raju 110 capsules (990g).

SSP Devendra Subedi at NDCLEU said that Bahadur used to pack hashish inside plastic wraps in his capital-based rented accommodation and supply the drugs to Thailand and other countries by concealing inside people's stomach.

Police said the seizure of hashish being concealed inside stomach was the biggest ever reported in the capital.

It is suspected that there might be other Nepali members involved in this illicit business.
