The Thai government will open for the Thai people to donate for quake-hit Haiti until March 31, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuagsuban announced Monday.
Speaking after chairing a meeting of representatives from state enterprises, Suthep said the state enterprises will help encourage their staff and the general public to donate for the suffered Haitians, Thai News Agency reported.
Also, on February 1 the national flag carrier Thai Airways International will deliver the first lot of 100 tons of Thai rice donated by the Thai government to the United Nations, which will manage to help Haiti, he said.
After the quake hit Haiti, the Thai government had already set up a center for the purpose.
