Suspected militants have shot dead two former militants in India-controlled Kashmir, police said Saturday.

Suspected militants Saturday fired upon a vehicle from a close range, killing Gulzar Ahmad Dar and injuring another person accompanying him. The incident took place at Qaimoh in Kulgam district, around 70 km south of Srinagar, the summer capital of India-controlled Kashmir.

Locals said Dar died on spot and the other person was rushed to hospital for treatment.

On Friday, another former militant, Bilal Ahmad Chaproo, was killed by suspected militants in Sopore, around 52 km northwest of Srinagar.

Police said Chaproo's body was found in an apple orchard.

Both Dar and Chaproo were the released militants and according to family members, they had snapped their links with militant groups.

Police has registered the cases and started investigation into it.
