Five trains were canceled Wednesday in the Indian capital due to dense fog in the city and parts of north India, while two dozen trains were running behind schedule, said railway officials.

The trains canceled included the Sitamarhi-bound Licchavi Express and Gaya-bound Mahabodhi Express, while Bhopal Shatabdi, Puri Express and Taj Express were rescheduled.

At least 10 people were killed in three train collisions in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh last Sunday due to heavy fog.

North India has been hit by a cold wave over the past week, in which at least 100 people have died of coldness.
