Police personnel killed by Taliban militants in Afghanistan

Taliban militants in its latest wave of violent attacks on a police checkpoint in southern Afghanistan's Ghazni province killed a police personnel and injured another on Monday.

"The rebels attacked a police checkpoint in Andar district this afternoon killing a police constable and injuring another," said Khayalbaz Shirzoi, the provincial police chief.

Two militants were wounded in the firefight, he said, adding that the clash occurred in the wake of troops' attack in the neighboring Muqar district on Sunday during which four suspected insurgents had been detained.
