Indonesian former president Wahid's body to be buried in East Java

The body of former Indonesian president Abdurrahman Wahid known as Gusdur is planned to be buried at Jombang of East Java, presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said here on Wednesday.

A preparation for the funeral in military way had been conducted, the spokesman said.

"The family has conducted a coordination (for the funeral), but the final decision has not been made. Right now, the family said that the funeral would take place in Jombang of East Java," Pasha was quoted by Elshinta Radio as saying.

The former president was born in Jombang of East Java.

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and scores of political leaders have visited the former president who died on Wednesday afternoon.

An official of the State Palace said that President Yudhoyono has already returned from RSCM Hospital where Wahid died.

The official said that the president would issue a statement on the death of Wahid.

In the hospital, political leaders from Indonesian largest Muslim organization of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), including the chairman of the organization Hasyim Muzadi, number of ministers, had paid a visit.

According to the doctor, Wahid suffered from diabetes, and problems on hearth and kidney.

Wahid, 69, had been a chairman of the NU and he was elected as Indonesian president in 1999.
