Aftershock strikes West Sumatra, Indonesia

An aftershock with magnitude of 5.3 rocked West Sumatra province on Wednesday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said here.

The aftershock jolted at 08:47 a.m. Jakarta time (0147 GMT), minutes after the main shock of 6.1 magnitude, an official of the agency Arief Nursalim told Xinhua over phone.

The epicenter of the shock was at 46 km southeast Siberut of Mentawai island in the province and at a depth of 25 km under sea bed, he said.
