5 injured in petrol station blast in NW Pakistan

A filling station was blown up through a remote-controlled device in northwest Pakistan on Friday, injuring five persons.

The bomb, which was planted on a bicycle parked at Naseer Petrol Pump in Lakki Marwat, a town in the south of North West Frontier Province, went off with a big bang, the official news agency APP reported.

As a result, the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)leader and ex-legislator Naseer Muhamamd Khan and four others sustained injuries.

The injured were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. District Police Officer Lakki Marwat Ayub Khan said that eight to 10 kilogram explosive material had been used in the blast.

The official said that security had been beefed up and search operation for arrest of the criminals started. Soon after the incident, police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
