Afghan forces discover weapon cache

Afghan troops seized a huge weapon cache containing variety of arms and ammunition during an ongoing operation against Taliban militants in Helmand province, a press release of the Defense Ministry said Wednesday.

"The cache discovered in Nawzad district of the restive Helmand province Tuesday contains variety of ammunitions including 90 pieces of anti-personnel mines and 800 kg of explosive materials," the press release added.

In the operation "Cobra's Anger" launched early Friday, so far dozens of militants have been killed and security has been restored, according to officials.

Also on the same day, security forces discovered four anti-aircraft guns and hundreds of mines from a village in Arghanj district of the northeastern Badakhshan province, a provincial official Marouf Rasikh said.
