Several Afghan militants detained: NATO

Afghan and the NATO-led peacekeeping force ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) arrested a number of suspected militants in Taliban birthplace Kandahar on Tuesday, an ISAF press release said.

"Several militants in Kandahar province were detained by an Afghan-international security force today," the press release added.

It stressed that one of the suspects is a known Taliban facilitator responsible for the financial and logistical support of militant elements in the area.

However, it did not identify his name, adding the militants were detained without resistance.

Taliban fighters have not made any comments.
