World Vision International has announced it will implement a 500,000 U.S. dollar preventive project to combat the spread of A/H1N1 virus in Mongolia.

Alex Snary, World Vision country director for Mongolia, made the announcement during a meeting with Miyeegombyn Enkhbold, the Deputy Premier of Mongolia.

A decision on realizing the goal of the project was made by the organization after conducting research last week.

It is calculated that 12,000 children will get nutrition assistance within three months. In addition, the organization plans to distribute to people coal for fuel, hand gels and warm clothes. Family hospitals will receive necessary materials as well.

Enkhbold briefed Snary on the current flu situation in Mongolia. Mr Snary said the government efforts to combat the virus had been effective.

The country's A/H1N1 death toll rose to 18 by Friday while the number infected with the virus rose to 1,106.
