Continued militancy claimed the lives of two soldiers of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in the war-torn Afghanistan while the troops have detained several militants, the military alliance said in a press release on Saturday.
"One ISAF service member from the United States died in an IED(Improvised Explosive Device) strike in southern Afghanistan yesterday," the press release said.
A similar incident in east Afghanistan left an ISAF service member and a civilian contractor both from the U.S. dead, it added.
However, ISAF in another press release stressed that the troops detained a handful of suspected insurgents on the same day Friday in the southern Zabul while pursuing a Taliban commander.
During the operation a woman got wounded and later succumbed to her injuries despite providing medical treatment by the troops, the press release confirmed.
Several Taliban fighters were also wounded during the operation, it said.
Taliban militants have not made comment.
