A disciplinary committee decided Thursday to fire Pol Lt General Suchart Muenkaew, commissioner of the Provincial Police Bureau 4, from police service for alleged malfeasance related to the police crackdown on protestors in front of Parliament on Oct. 7 last year.
The decision was made after the National Anti-Corruption Commission resolved in September to seek criminal action against Suchart for his role in the crackdown against protestors led by the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), Thai News Agency reported.
Suchart, who is now assigned to an inactive position, was the Metropolitan Police Bureau commissioner during the police crackdown.
One woman was killed in the clash, while nearly 500 people were wounded.
