Hundreds of people took to the streets in Nangarhar's provincial capital of Jalalabad Monday and condemned what they described as desecration of Muslims holy book Quran.

The peaceful demonstrators accused the NATO-led forces of desecrating Quran and called on government to punish those responsible for the act.

Locals said that the troops days ago desecrated Quran in Wardak province, 35 km west of capital city Kabul.

Meantime, police spokesman in Jalalabad city Abdul Ghafor told media that people including university students participated the peaceful demonstration to register their protests.
