A group of gunmen Thursday launched series of attacks on government and police buildings in Lahore, the capital of eastern Pakistan's Punjab province, police and officials said.

Police said that some unidentified attackers fired gunshots on the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) building on the Temple Road in Lahore on Thursday morning, killing at least two security men.

Policemen have cleared the FIA building after the militants took several officials hostage. All of the five attackers were killed and some suspects were arrested, police said.

Meanwhile, the militants launched another two simultaneous attacks on a police elite force center and a police training institute in Lahore.

A group of gunmen, wearing police uniforms, entered the center of the police elite force and threw hand grenades and opened fire on the policemen. Police said the firing is still underway.

Another group of assailants struck the Manawan police training institute. During the firing, one person was killed and five others were injured.

Police said the Rangers have been deployed across Lahore.
