Pakistan army spokesman said Saturday that eight army men were killed during gunbattle with suspected Taliban militants outside army headquarters in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, the private TV channel GEO News reported.
The spokesman said this while giving details on the military-militants encounter.
Abbas said four militants were killed during the gunbattle and two others are still at large. He said the search operation and air surveillance are underway in areas adjacent to headquarters to locate the fleeing militants.
Heavy firing and explosion took place near army headquarters in Rawalpindi Saturday. According to reports, the shooting began when a carry vehicle was intercepted by army personnel at the main gate of army headquarters. The miscreants sitting on vehicle opened heavy indiscriminate firing on security forces. Army soldiers surrounded the vehicle and retaliated.
"The situation now is under full control," he added.
