Two civilians were killed as a bomb ripped through a wedding party in Paktika province east of Afghanistan on Thursday, an official said.

"The blast occurred in a wedding party this morning in Argun district, killing two and wounding two others," provincial administration spokesman Hamidullah Zhawak told Xinhua.

However, he did not point finger at any particular groups or individuals.

Meantime, a roadside bomb struck a dump truck in the neighboring Khost province on the same day Thursday, killing one person.

A fresh UN report has describes 2009 as the deadliest year in terms of civilian casualties in Afghanistan as 1,500 civilians have been killed in attacks by both the Taliban insurgents and the Afghan and the international forces up to the month of August.
