The Kyrgyz constitutional court on Thursday recognized incumbent President Kurmanbek Bakiyev's successful reelection in the country's presidential vote earlier this month, ruling that the election "is constitutional."

The court stressed that its ruling was the final decision which could not be challenged, the Interfax news agency reported.

In the presidential poll on July 23, Bakiyev gained 76.12 percent of the votes, and the main opposition candidate, Almazbek Atambayev, garnered only 8.41 percent of the votes, according to results announced by the country's Central Election Commission on Monday.

It was the fifth general election of the country since its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

Bakiyev's inauguration is expected to be held on Aug. 2.
