South Korean and Japanese vice foreign ministers will hold a meeting in Tokyo later this week to discuss over regional issues, including that of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the foreign ministry said Wednesday.

According to the foreign ministry, Kwon Jong-rak, South Korea's vice foreign minister, will be meeting with his Japanese counterpart Mitoji Yabunaka on Friday to share ideas on dealing with the current DPRK nuclear and military threats.

The two vice ministers will also discuss on ways to expand diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries, the ministry said.

The upcoming meeting will be the eighth vice ministerial talks between the two countries, it added.
