The body of a Polish engineer, who was kidnapped last September and beheaded by the Taliban in February, has been handed over to the Polish ambassador, local media reported on Monday.

Peter Stanczak was kidnapped in September from Attock district in eastern Pakistan's Punjab province while working on oil and gas exploration.

The Taliban militants beheaded him in February in the northwestern tribal region of Darra Adam Khel after the government refused to accept demands for the release of the militants.

Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik received the body of Stanczak in a hospital of Islamabad and handed it over to the Polish ambassador on Sunday, the English-language Dawn newspaper said.
