Save the Children New Zealand, a charity organization, will provide 30,000 NZ dollars (16,800 U.S. dollars) to help thousands of children and their families affected by the current conflict in Sri Lanka.
Save the Children estimated 100,000 displaced people were struggling to survive in the northern tip of Sri Lanka, the New Zealand Press Association reported on Friday.
The organization was also accepting donations from the public.
The International Red Cross said on Friday that hundreds of civilians had been killed or wounded in Sri Lanka's conflict zone in recent days, where even its aid workers were fleeing for their lives.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has ordered the immediate dispatch of a humanitarian team to northern Sri Lanka.
