Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will open the 42nd annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Nusa Dua, Bali, on May 4, 2009, the national Antara news agency reported on Thursday.

"According to schedule, the President will open the meeting," said Bali police spokesman Senior Commissioner Gde Sugianyar on Thursday.

The event, bearing the theme "Increasing investment, the use of alternative energy, and food security in supporting sustainable economic development", is expected to be joined by 5,000 delegates from 67 countries and regions, including 48 in the Asia-Pacific region, in addition to the media and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Bali police will deploy 707 of its personnel with a backup of 77 police officers from the Police Headquarters in Jakarta for the meeting, Sugianyar said.
