The Communist Party Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) candidate Subash Chandra Nemwang has been unanimously elected the chairman of Nepali Constituent Assembly (CA) on Wednesday.
According to a leading website, eKantipur.com report, Nemwang was elected as none of the parties filed the candidacy for the post of the CA chair.
The CA secretariat had earlier scheduled the election of CA chair for Thursday.
Previously, Nemwang had assumed the office of Speaker of the interim parliament.
Nemwang, 55, was appointed Speaker after the reinstatement of the House of Representative following the people's movement in April 2006.

The CA's first amended working procedure mentions that a majority of the then present CA members is required for the election of CA chairman. Earlier, the working procedure required the majority of all the CA members for the election.
