One soldier of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed and another sustained injuries as they came under attack in the troubled Helmand province in south Afghanistan, a press release of the alliance said Thursday.

"One ISAF soldier died and another wounded in a direct fire attack on a patrol in the Helmand province on Wednesday," the press release said.

However, it did not reveal the nationality of the victim, saying ISAF does not release the casualty's nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
