A landslide in Indonesian West Sumatra province of Sumatra Island on Saturday evening blocked transportation with nearby provinces, National Disaster Management Agency said here Sunday.

A kiosk and a truck were buried by the landslide, said Setio Sutarmo, an official of the agency.

"We have just received report from field officer that one house and a truck carrying cement were buried by the landslide, but there is till no information about victims," he told Xinhua.

The landslide occurred on a highway connecting Lima Puluh Koto district in West Sumatra and Pekanbaru city of Riau province, blocking the highway for about 8 kilometers, he said.

Indonesia has been frequently hit by landslide and flood due to lack of forest covered areas that was caused by deforestation and forest destruction.
