In accordance with the Constituent Assembly (CA) election program, a total of 38 Nepali parties have submitted the closed-list of their candidates contesting the elections under the Proportional Representation (PR) system at the Election Commission (EC), according to the National News Agency RSS on Thursday.
The deadline for the political parties to submit the closed-list of candidates for the April 10 polls under the PR system to the EC ended on Wednesday.
Of the 74 political parties registered at the commission, 38 parties including all the ruling seven parties submitted the list of their respective candidates for the PR system. The parties were allowed to submit a list of maximum of 335 candidates.
Those submitting candidates for all the 335 seats in fray under the PR system include Nepali Congress, the Communist Party Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist).
The EC has set the deadline for filing the names of party candidates under the PR system for February 20, and those under the first-past-the-post system for February 25.
Only 49 days are left for the CA elections, regarded as an important milestone in the history of Nepal, the RSS said.
