Unknown militants killed chief of Delaram district and five others on Saturday during an ambush on the district chief's convoy in western Afghan Farah province, an interior ministry statement said.
"Enemies of Afghanistan during an ambush on the convoy of Gulam Yeyi, Chief of Delaram district, killed him, his three bodyguards and two relatives today when they were on the way to another district," the statement said.
Afghan Interior Ministry condemned the killing, it added, offering no more details.
There has been no responsibility claim yet.
In neighboring Nimruz province, a failed suicide blast targeting provincial governor killed seven people on Nov. 19. Governor Ghulam Dastagir survived the attack.
