Indonesia is likely to resume stalled negotiations with Singapore on the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) next year, a senior official said Tuesday.

Defense Minister Juwono Sudarsono said he had held talks with his Singaporean counterpart Teo Chee Hean on the continuation of the DCA negotiations during the ASEAN Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) in Singapore on Nov. 14-15.

"I told him that we are waiting for a new phase in our diplomacy," Juwono was quoted by the national Antara news agency as saying.

"Next year, God willing, the Indonesian foreign minister and his Singaporean counterpart will act as chief negotiators for their respective countries in negotiations on the extradition treaty, defense cooperation agreement and training areas," he said.
