Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf is likely to make important announcements at a news conference Sunday, according to the News, a local English daily.
The News quoted informed sources as saying that the decision to speak to the media was taken after the corps commanders meeting earlier Saturday in which the situation in Pakistan was discussed.
The report said that the announcement of holding a news conference by the president had given birth to strong speculations about the fate of the present assemblies and the continuation of emergency.
It is widely believed that Musharraf would make major announcements about emergency Sunday, according to the report. The decision pertaining to restoration of the constitution and fate of the assemblies would also be part of the president's announcements.
