Palestinian medics evacuated the bodies of two Palestinian militants killed late Wednesday in northern Gaza Strip.

Adham Abu Selmia, spokesman for the medical services, said that ambulance crews picked up the bodies of the activists who were killed in an Israeli shelling late Wednesday.

The Israeli army fired an artillery shell on the outskirts of Jabaliya in northern Gaza Wednesday night, killing a militant and wounding another. The wounded man passed away later because Israeli did not allow Palestinian emergency crews to reach the area until the morning.

The Israeli army said it hit the Palestinians as they were planting explosives near a security fence separating Gaza and Israel.

Israel built a 300-meter-long buffer zone along its borders with the Gaza Strip aimed to "keep militants away from the fence." In recent weeks, violence has flared up in that area, resulting in more than a dozen fatalities among the Palestinians.

In the West Bank, meanwhile, the Israeli army arrested 13 Palestinians during raids in different parts of the territory.

The Israeli carried out almost daily raids in the West Bank, though media reports said that the list of wanted Palestinians there was "almost vacant" due to security cooperation with the Palestinian National Authority.
