The Arab League (AL) on Saturday expressed its willingness to boost relations with the African Union (AU) and the African people, the official Egyptian MENA news agency reported.
In an AL statement issued Saturday to observe the Africa Day which falls on May 25, the pan-Arab bloc said it is looking forward to strengthen cooperation between the Arab and African countries.
The AL said it's important to foster geographical, political and cultural links between Arabs and Africans in a bid to set up stronger partnerships for mutual development, said the statement.
The Arab organization also pledges to work with the AU to resolve conflicts and disputes in Africa, such as those in Sudan, Somalia and the Comoros.
The Africa Day was established to observe the founding of the Organization of African Unity in 1963 which eventually became the AU.
