Spokesman of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) in Gaza Abu Mujahid said on Monday that Israel should accept the militant groups' conditions in order to reach a ceasefire agreement.
"Any ceasefire agreement with the occupation (Israel) should be mutual and comprehensive. The enemy should stop its aggression allover the Palestinian territories," Abu Mujahid told reporters in Gaza.
Egypt has been mediating between Israel and Gaza militant groups to stop violence, agree on a ceasefire and open crossings which had been closed down for about ten months, since Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip last summer.
On Sunday, President Mahmoud Abbas asked Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to accept a ceasefire with Gaza militant groups and positively deal with the Egyptian efforts.
The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) has officially asked Egypt to continue with its efforts until a ceasefire agreement is reached with Israel. However, Israel just wants a ceasefire in Gaza and excluded the West Bank.
If a ceasefire is reached, Israel might ease its tightened blockade imposed on Gaza Strip for ten months, and let the Palestinians open Gaza border crossing points, mainly Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt.
"The blockade should be immediately lifted and crossing points should be opened. Movement of goods and individuals should be eased without any Israeli obstruction," Abu Mujahid conditioned.
