Two soldiers serving the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) have been killed and another injured when their patrol struck an improvised explosive device in eastern Afghanistan's Paktika province, an ISAF statement issued Wednesday said.

It said the roadside blast occurred on Feb. 26 in Sharan district of Paktika.

"The wounded soldier is being treated at an ISAF medical facility," the ISAF said, without identifying the nationality of the casualties.

A 43,000-strong multi-national force are deployed to Afghanistan under the flag of NATO-led ISAF, fighting militants and assisting in the war-torn country's reconstruction.
