European Union (EU) Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner strongly condemned on Friday the bomb attacks in Baghdad, Iraq.
"I condemn in the strongest terms the two bomb attacks in Baghdad today which caused the death and injury of so many ordinary Iraqis, " she said in a statement.
She expressed sympathy to the families of the victims of "these acts of terrorism," wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.
"We are fully aware of the difficulties Iraq and the Iraqi people are facing on the path towards establishing and strengthening democratic structures in the country and continuing the reconciliation process and maintaining national unity," the commissioner said.
She vowed that the Commission would continue to "assist Iraq in this very difficult process."
