Two women were killed and 20 others wounded when a bus swerved and later toppled over on a highway in northern Philippines on Monday afternoon.

An initial report from local radio dzBB said that the accident occurred at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Guiguinto town of Bulacan province.

The identities of the fatalities were not immediately available but the report said the injured have been sent to the nearby Bulacan Provincial Hospital.

The cause of the accident was still under investigation but the radio report said that rains and engine oil leaking from the bus made the road rather "slippery."
