Tow people were killed and six others wounded in a shootout between drug suspects and law enforcement agents in San Diego, police said on Sunday.

Police Lt. Kevin Rooney said the incident began Saturday night when San Diego police responded to a call from agents of the state Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement.

The agents had been watching two drug suspects when one suspect went into a home in a neighborhood and shot and wounded five people inside, one fatally, Rooney said. No motives for the shootings have been established.

As the drug suspects were attempting to flee the house, they were confronted by the agents. An ensuing shootout killed one suspect, identified as a 41-year-old man. Another suspect was arrested.

The person killed inside the home was a 45-year-old man. One drug agent was wounded but his wounds were not considered life-threatening, Rooney said.
