Russia will invite some 330 international observers to monitor the State Duma elections slated for early December, a senior official of the Central Election Commission (CEC) said on Wednesday.

Those observers will come from international regimes such as the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States Executive Committee, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as nations like the United States and Japan, said CEC Chairman Vladimir Churov.

So far, 1,076 Russian journalists and 353 foreign reporters have been accredited by the election commission to cover the elections, he told a press conference.

The elections will be held on Dec. 2, when political party candidates will run for the 450 seats in the lower house of the parliament.
