The building of the Royal Bank of Canada in downtown Toronto, Canada's biggest city, was evacuated Friday after a "suspicious" package was said to be found in its second floor mailroom.
There were about 200 employees working in the building at the time, according to local media reports.
Police arriving at the scene also sealed off a section of the downtown area for hours, causing extensive traffic delays.
The "suspicious" package turned out to be a box containing a ticking clock radio, a police spokesman told reporters after an investigation by officers from the bomb squad and emergency task force.
He added that the incident was "accidental".
