President of Iceland Olafur Ragnar Grimsson on Monday ended his two-day visit to Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

During a meeting with Yuan Chunqing, governor of Shaanxi on Sunday evening, President Grimsson expressed hope to carry out comprehensive cooperation between Iceland and the inland Chinese province in the sector of geothermic energy development.

The president said global warming has forced human being to use clean energy to take place of those that may cause pollution.

Geothermic energy is a new kind of energy sources, which is clean, regenerative and could be widely used, he said, calling for more cooperation and exchanges in the field between the two sides.

During the tour, President Grimsson also visited an expressway construction project and a number of historical sites including the 2,200-year-old terracotta warriors and horses.
