Two American soldiers were killed and another was wounded in two separate attacks in eastern Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Monday.

A soldier assigned to Multi-National Division-Baghdad was killed and another injured when insurgents attacked their unit with small arms fire and a roadside bomb on Saturday, the military said in a statement.

The soldier's unite continue conducting raids and clearing operations to disrupt insurgents and militia elements operating in this section of Baghdad, the statement said.

Also in eastern the capital, another soldier assigned to the same unit was killed when insurgents attacked his unit by small arms fire during combat operations on Sunday, a separate statement said.

The soldiers' names are being withheld bending notification of next of kin, the statements said.

The latest death brings the number of U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq to about 3,805 since the outbreak of the Iraqi war in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
