Gunmen killed two people and wounded five others in attacks in the town of Iskandriyah south of Baghdad on Wednesday, local police source said.

Separately, gunmen shot dead another civilian at a vegetable and fruit market in central Iskandriyah, some 50 km south of Baghdad, According to the source.
In addition, several mortar rounds struck the center of Iskandriyah town, leaving five civilians wounded, including two women, and damaging several houses, the source added.
Iskandriyah along with several large towns in the Babil province, including Yousifiyah, Mahmoudiyah, Musayyib, Mahawil and Latifiyah, are parts of an area known as the "Triangle of Death" in Iraq, which is the hotbed of sectarian conflict between Sunni and Shi'ite communities.
