To realize its socioeconomic targets this year, including economic growth of 8.5 percent, Vietnam is centering on such measures as curbing inflation, facilitating infrastructure projects, and containing diseases, local newspaper People reported Friday.

Under a recent government resolution, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung instructed ministries, sectors and localities to focus on taking urgent measures to ensure that this year's price growth will be lower than the targeted economic growth, keeping on reforming pricing management mechanisms, especially those on essential goods, and preventing speculation and trade frauds.

The prime minister also asked them to speed up the disbursement of capital for infrastructure development projects, especially state-funded ones, adjusted agricultural structure to avoid diseases, plan animal slaughtering networks, and stamping out disease outbreaks among poultry and humans.

He called for strong production of items for export to limit trade deficit, and more urgent measures to curb traffic accidents and congestion, ensure foodstuff hygienic safety, and cope with natural disasters.
