A boat carrying illegal immigrants went down in the Aegean Sea off northwestern Turkey on Thursday, killing one immigrant, and another one was missing, the semi- official Anatolia news agency reported.
The boat carrying 21 illegal immigrants of Iraqi origin was bound for the Greek island of Lesbos, according to the report.
It said that one immigrant drowned while 19 others were saved by Turkish coast guard vessels from the sea off Ayvalik town of Balikesir province.
Search and rescue efforts are under way to find the missing one, it added.
Turkish security forces are currently investigating whether or not the boat had a crew, said the report.
