A small explosive detonated at the Cambodian-Vietnamese Friendship Monument here on Sunday, and two other larger devices were made safe by bomb disposal experts later in the morning, local media said on Monday.
The first explosion, which is believed to have been a small detonator, hurt no one, and no visible damage was done to the monument, said English-language newspaper the Cambodian Daily.
Following the initial blast, police sealed off the roads and called in experts who spent hours assessing the remaining devices, which turned out to be plastic buckets containing a mix of ammonium nitrate and diesel, police said.
Police and municipal officials did not mention the motive for the planned explosion and were not naming any suspects, the paper said.
