Jordan will host a meeting of nations hosting Iraqi refugees next week, the official Petra news agency reported Thursday.

The meeting to be held on July 26 will be looking into ways to ease the burden of the countries hosting large numbers of Iraqis who have fled the country's violence, Petra quoted a Foreign Ministry statement as saying.

According to the statement, representatives from Iraq, Syria, Egypt, the Arab League, the United Nations and U.N. relief organizations will attend the meeting, while Turkey, Iran, Russia and Japan will also be invited to attend as observers.

UN refugee agency UNHCR has warned of big burden of the countries hosting large numbers of Iraqi refugees, saying that about 50,000 people continue to flee Iraq every month, mostly to neighboring Jordan and Syria.

According to media reports, Jordan hosts an estimated 750,000 Iraqis, another 1.5 million have fled to Syria, while Egypt and Lebanon host more than 200,000 each.
