The Africa Union (AU) said Africa needs billions of U.S. dollars to mitigate the challenges of post conflict reconstruction and peace building.

Resources that have been provided for the continent is insufficient to meet its needs, said Naison Ngoma, AU Commission Post Conflict Reconstruction and Peace Building expert.

Effective strategies need to be put in place to ensure that countries emerging from conflicts are assisted, he told a press briefing ahead of the AU Post Conflict Reconstruction and Development Policy Workshop scheduled for next week.

He said that the commission seeks to embrace all stakeholders in implementing the AU Post Conflict and Development Policy.
